SONG FOR BECKY

  Song for Becky  was my very first instrumental piece (I
had written some pretty lame excuses for Rock songs over the previous
two years!), completed in the Spring of 1974 while I was still attending high school in Madison, New Jersey... this piece did "double duty" as both my
Final Project for a Music Theory class I was taking my senior year at
Madison High AND a 16th birthday present for Becky, my closest friend
in high school: 
 in fact, in what had to have been one of the strangest coincidences I have ever experienced, Becky's "Sweet 16" happened to fall on
the date the Final Project was due to be turned in... needless to say,
Becky got her birthday present from me on time (though one is right to wonder
what a teenage girl must have thought when presented with a lead sheet of
this piece, scored for piano, along with a normal "Happy Birthday" greeting!!)
